When interpreted literally, the A version must be erroneous – a chord featuring e would be conceivable if there were, for example, a D chord at the beginning of the next bar, which would result in a correct modulation to the key of G minor. However, the resolution to D minor means that this bar is an exact transposition of bar 35 and that the last L.H. crotchet must be A-e, as it is in FE.

In A there are no accidentals to the 7th quaver in bar 42 and the 3rd quaver in bar 43 (a2) and to the topmost note in bar 44 (f3). Chopin's patent oversight was corrected in GE (→FE,EE,IE).
